This is one of the most demanded tours in Ushuaia. From the world’s most southern city, a Land Rover Defender truck heads north to cross the Andes. Paso Garibaldi, more than 400 meters above sea level, allows the first great pictures of Escondido (“hidden”) lake. Then the group approaches the lake and boards very stable and comfortable canoes. Guided by an expert, after rowing this first lake, visitors go into the forest to start a new 4WD leg of the tour to reach the lodge on the coast of the 100 km long Fagnano lake. A good lunch with a fine Malbec complement the incomparable sight of the mountains. The Fagnano’s lodge, simple and cozy, surrounded by nature, makes the difference between a conventional tour and a true off-road experience.
