Malbec Tasting and Pairing at El Querandí Restaurant (or similar)
Brought in from the South of France in the 19th century, Malbec has come to be Argentina’s most iconic grape variety. This program invites you to know more about this wine, its best producers, and its diverse character and expression, altered by terroir, height, region and the wisdom of the wine makers and agronomist experts. From the Northeastern province of Salta to the young vines of Southern Patagonia, the Argentine Malbec displays its flexibility, flavor, aroma, and color to its fullest potential. During this tasting at Cava El Querandí, a presentation of historical insight, maps, anecdotes and other documents helps understand Malbec and the land and weather conditions it requires. This lecture takes the form of pairings of selected wines with local cuisine specialties, with a menu based in local gastronomy. For a Malbec from Tucumán (in the North), a “shot” of lentils stew. For a glass of red wine from Agrelo (in the Malbec enclave of Mendoza), a “shot” of mashed potato casserole with a touch of black olives and raisins.
