SALTA
Salta
Combining history, culture, architecture, religion and art, the city of Salta is one of the most important in northern Argentina. Ascending Cerro San Bernardo, you can appreciate a wonderful panoramic view of the Lerma Valley as well as the entire city that preserves the country's greatest colonial architectural heritage. It treasures sites of historical and cultural interest such as the Cabildo, the Cathedral and the Museum of High Mountain Archeology (MAAM), which exhibits the mummies of Niños del Llullaillaco, among others.
The city of Salta is the ideal starting point for excursions to the main tourist towns in the province such as Cafayate, Cachi and San Antonio de Los Cobres, the starting point of the emblematic Train to the Clouds.
- World Heritage Sites by Unesco: Some sites in the province are part of the Qhapaq Ñan transnational cultural itinerary.
- Recommended protected areas: Los Cardones National Park.
- Acknowledgments: The Province's Tourism Secretariat was distinguished with the National Quality Award awarded by the Presidency of the Nation (2018).
